Days 7 & 8

Well, we have a window. By noon on Tuesday, we had a window mounted, and a door frame. And we also have wainscoting on the east side. It is really coming together. It is just so exciting.













By the end of the day, we had both windows and a door installed. It really is coming together.

























Well, at the end of day 8, we have two almost full walls, and today Ron did a lot of structure bracing of the roof. It really is looking like a building.






On another note, we have lost our cell phone, and a remote in the last week. Talk about mind blowing, Good Grief!!!! Now the strange thing about the phone, I called Verizon, so I could check to see if anyone is using it. They told me they can't give out that information on the phone, but I can go online. So, I went online, did all I could do, and guess what, to get the info, they are going to text me with my pass word. OK, that just ain't working for me, without a phone. They are also going to send it to me, snail mail. So hopefully one or both will show up soon. We really do miss our phone, and sure don't want to have to buy a new one.

Day 6

Bright and early this morning Ron showed up. Had a bunch of lumber to put up, and then by noon, we have the wainscoting on the west side of the building. Have I mentioned that he doesn't use a nail gun, just a plain old hammer.
By the time he left, this is what was done. Almost one whole wall. It is just so hard for us to believe that he has only been working on this for 6 days. Too bad that the weather hasn't allowed that to be 6 straight days. Oh well, it is getting there.

Progress, day 5

Ron arrived bright and early on Friday to get busy. He started working right away. It is truly amazing what this man does, all on his own. In the midst of everything it started to drizzle, off and on, but he continued working all day. Oh, and the fact that the air was so thick, breathing was about all I could muster up. You can see in the pictures just how oppressive it was.



We also got the kitchen window installed. We are so pleased with all of our new windows and can hardly wait until we can replace the other two.

Freaking Rain.......

Well, Ron showed up yesterday, finally dry enough for him to work. The guy is amazing to watch. Don keeps offering to help, but he says no. This is what the building looked like at 10:00 a.m. Remember, all of this work is done by one person.

He left, and then, it freaking rained, AGAIN. So nothing done today. Oh well, it will get there.

The window guy did call and we are getting another window put in tomorrow afternoon, so that is exciting. Then all we have left is the large picture window, and the window above the kitchen sink. Those will be more expensive, so they will come later.

I really am so tired of the rainy weather. I am thinking I have Seasonal Affect Disorder, and man, it is getting worse. Days like this, I don't function well, at all. Go to the Dr. for check up next week, so going to talk to her about it.

Our building and something extra

Well, nothing new to report, darn it. Due to raining, and weekend, and more rain, nothing has been done since last Thursday. It is frustrating, but we understand.

Not much else going on. Was extremely tired this past weekend, so made a rule that no one under the age of 30 could come to my house, LOL. I just didn't do a whole lot, but try and organize the front room. Made some progress, but sure didn't over do.

Joan and the kids are spending the night tonight since Ames is hosting RAGBRAI tonight and she won't be able to get onto her road in the morning. Probably pretty noisy in her neck of the woods tonight, also, so more than likely very little sleep.

Hopefully, I will have some pictures of the building in my next post.

But, I do have some photos I have to share. Teddy came down from the bedroom, and asked if he looked like a Mexican, ummmm, what do you think. Now keep a straight face.

So then, he asked to borrow my camera and went back up to the bedroom. This is what I found on my camera when he brought it back to me. Again, don't laugh, OK, go ahead, I did.

Hopefully, in the next day or so I will have more on the new shed. Hopefully..............

Don's dream

For many years Don has wanted to build a big pole building to house his special vehicles. Well, the building is underway, and he is so excited. He is like a kid in a candy store. The building is going to be 54' x 36'. We have hired a guy from Iowa Falls to build it. He basically works all by himself. It is amazing to watch him work. We can hardly wait to get it done. Seems like it has been a dream forever. I am so excited for Don to have this.


Will try and post updates. Due to a big rain storm last night, and the ground being too muddy, there will be no building today. Oh well.............

Scrapbooking

I have been doing some scrapbooking lately. It has been a lot of hit and miss. Since we have been doing a lot of projects on the house, I have rewarded myself with sitting and throwing a layout or two together. They have sort of piled up, so yesterday I decided I needed to photograph them and get them into albums. Here are some of my favorite from this batch.


This is one of Teddy. The pictures just make me laugh. My friend Trish thought these were the perfect papers for them.

Gary Allan is my very favorite artist. His band teased him a few years ago, and called him Capt. Sexy, when he was in People Magazine as one of the Sexiest men in Country music.

Haleigh swears that kiss wasn't on the lips, I really beg to differ. This was a somewhat rare moment. These two act more like brother and sister than friends, therefore, this type of event didn't happen often.

I scraplifted this one, from one of the Close to my Heart books, Imagine or Cherish. No one seems to know who the little girl is, but it was so much fun watching Teddy interact with her. Back then he just didn't relate well with strangers. I'm thinking there was some flirting going on here.
